Dr Amuasi heads the Global Health Department of the School of Public Health at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana, where he is also a lecturer. He is group leader of the Global Health and Infectious Diseases Research Group at the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research in Tropical Medicine and the Bernhard Nocht Institute of Tropical Medicine in Hamburg, Germany, and a board member of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene. read more
Dr Amuasi’s research involves clinical and field epidemiologic studies on emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, snakebite and other neglected tropical diseases. He is also coordinating research on the clinical characterization of COVID-19 in Africa, and is the principal investigator for various studies on COVID-19 in Ghana, including drug and vaccine clinical trials.
Dr Amuasi co-chairs the Lancet One Health Commission and serves as an executive committee member of the African coaLition for Epidemic Research, Response and Training (ALERRT).

Dr Obiero undertook her medical training at the University of Nairobi and has a Master of Public Health degree from the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University, MD, USA.
Dr Obiero has led/co-led several research projects investigating the causes, diagnosis and treatment of serious infections in neonates and young children in resource-limited settings. She is an International Society for Infectious Diseases emerging leader in infectious diseases and a member of the Alpha Chapter of the Delta Omega Honorary Society at the Bloomberg School of Public Health.
