Dr Angus Thomson is principal of IRIMI company, an organization concentrated on building public trust in public health programmes, with a focus on immunization. He is also adjunct clinical professor in the Department of Communication Studies & Global Health Communication Center, Indiana University School of Liberal Arts at IUPUI, Indianapolis, IN, USA. During the height of the pandemic, from April 2020 to May 2022, Dr Thomson was a consultant senior social scientist for the Demand for Immunization team at UNICEF. read more
Dr Thomson has conceived and helped build a number of global vaccine demand programmes, including the Vaccination Demand Observatory, the International Pediatrics Association Vaccine Trust Project, and an international collaboration that validated the use of context-driven vaccine messaging on online platforms.
Through collaborations with experts in social, behavioural and communication sciences, Dr Thomson’s team developed a suite of instruments to understand and measure attitudes to adult and healthcare professional vaccination. He co-developed the AIMS (Association for Improvements in the Maternity Services) mixed-learning behaviour-centred IPC (infection prevention and control) training programme for healthcare professionals. Having developed the 6As taxonomy of determinants of vaccination uptake, he has run national multi-stakeholder projects in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America that aim to improve vaccination uptake in national immunization programmes.
Dr Thomson has published over 20 peer-reviewed opinion pieces, research papers and book chapters on vaccine confidence and coverage, and co-edited an 18-paper special issue on vaccine confidence in Vaccine. He co-authored the Vaccine Misinformation Management Field Guide and the Vaccine Messaging Guide, and led the digital information environment workstream of the Vaccination Demand Hub. He lectures on vaccine confidence for the VaxinLive Masters Program in Lyon and the Harvard School for Public Health vaccinology course.

Dr Gillespie’s grounding in public health and behavioural science has been the common thread throughout her career. She has a reputation as a leader in complex emergencies and public health issues (COVID-19, Ebola, HIV). She led the coordination of the COVID-19 response for the Middle East region in a joint role with the WHO and UNICEF, and most recently, supported Syria in the earthquake response in early 2023.

Ministry of Health, Uganda
Dr Henry Kyobe Bosa, an emerging infectious diseases epidemiologist, is the national incident commander for COVID-19 and Ebola virus in the Ministry of Health of Uganda. read more
In this role, Dr Kyobe Bosa oversees the overall technical and operational nodes of the Ebola and COVID-19 response by the Ministry of Health in Uganda.
Prior to this role, Dr Kyobe Bosa supported an African Union agency specializing in the development of sustainable financing mechanisms for outbreaks arising from emerging pathogens.
Dr Kyobe Bosa has worked in public health emergencies for the past 16 years: from the Ebola outbreak in Bundibugyo in Uganda as a clinician, through to Sierra Leone and Ghana as an epidemiologist during the 2014/15 Ebola outbreak; and Mogadishu, Somalia, working on dengue viral haemorrhagic disease, and several other outbreaks in Uganda.
Dr Kyobe Bosa is Uganda’s representative to the Africa Ebola Coordination Task Force (AfECT), a joint African Union/WHO AFRO coordinating mechanism. Dr Kyobe Bosa is a senior research scientist at Makerere University Lung Institute, and is a principal investigator on several ongoing studies. He is a co-principal investigator on the TEV Vaccine Trial.
