Dr Barber is chair of the European AIDS Clinical Society Young Investigators, honorary secretary and chair of the Education and Scientific Subcommittee for the British HIV Association and chair of the Board of Trustees for the peer support charity Positively UK.Â
Dr Barber established a dedicated frailty service for ageing patients with HIV infection in 2019 (The Sage Clinic). He has a research background in HIV-related neurocognitive impairment and antiretroviral clinical trials. Dr Barber is the current editor-in-chief of HIV Research and Clinical Practice.

Dr Boesecke completed his medical studies at Charité University in Berlin, Germany. He received his doctorate in medicine from the University of Hamburg, Germany, for his research in acute HIV infection. He held a 2-year postgraduate position studying integrase inhibitors in acute and chronic HIV infection at the National Centre in HIV Epidemiology and Clinical Research (now The Kirby Institute) in Sydney, Australia.
His main areas of research are comorbidities and coinfections in people living with HIV, including COVID19 and monkeypox.
