In this interview Dr Tiwaskar answers the following questions:

  • What have been the biggest challenges you have faced in terms of the home management of patients with COVID?
  • What factors affect the decision to send a patient to hospital?
  • What aspects of COVID care have been managed particularly well in India and what lessons have been learned?

Dr Tiwaskar is a Consultant Physician and Diabetologist at the Shilpa Medical Research Centre, Mumbai. He is Honorary General Secretary for the National Association for Physicians of India (API), Indian College of Physicians (ICP) and Physician’s Research Foundation (PRF). He is the Editor-in-Chief (Elect) at the Journal of Association of Physicians of India (JAPI) and a member of the Editorial Board at Medicines Update and International Journal of Diabetes.
Dr Tiwaskar has delivered more than 1,000 lectures at national and international conferences, authored 54 publications in national and international peer reviewed journals and authored multiple book chapters. He is also an MRCP Examiner for the Royal college of Physicians in the UK.

Dr Kinra shares her experiences of patient management, in both the home and clinical settings during the cOVID-19 pandemic and the key lessons learned.

In this interview Dr Kinra answers the following questions:

  • What aspects of COVID care have been managed particularly well in the UK and what lessons have been learned?

Dr Sonali Kinra is Clinical Associate in the primary care team at NHS England and NHS Improvement.

Dr Kinra is GP Retention Lead in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Integrated Care System (ICS), working with various stakeholders to improve recruitment, retention and wellbeing across traditional and additional roles in general practice and Primary Care Networks. In October 2020 she was elected nationally to serve as a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) Council for 3 years.

Dr Kinra has worked collaboratively across primary and secondary care to improve the interface and patient outcomes. She has held multiple leadership roles across commissioning and provider organisations, while championing the cause of improved equity and engagement across patients and workforce.

Throughout the course of the pandemic Dr Kinra has continued to provide care for COVID and non-COVID patients in primary care while also contributing towards policy and decision making. With close ties to India she has also been instrumental in organizing India-UK Covid webinar series, a knowledge sharing platform and also shared personal reflections in the British Journal of General practice.
